DESCRIPTION
The Cyber Security Analyst will have technical understanding of the engineering and security components of devices, including other related product spaces such as Internet of Things (IoT), embedded systems, etc... Recent IT skills via previous hand-on technical experience is required in medical equipment, systems administration, application development, or network administration (one or more) to understand potential medical device/system cyber security issues and qualify their risk appropriately. Based on those learnings, the incumbent will be responsible for researching and developing architectural, technological, and workflow solutions to robustly manage medical device cyber security challenges as they present themselves in the UCSDH's complex care environment. The incumbent will also be responsible for defining programmatic security controls to enable UCSDH's Clinical Technologies teams to identify and manage medical device cyber issues and that senior management can understand and manage these risks. The incumbent will additionally work with industry and peer organizations to ensure that UCSDH's capabilities are tracking with the medical device cyber security industry and peer institutions at large.
The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for assessing and resolving the technical and operational cyber security risks related to the use of medical devices and systems in the UCSD Health environment under the management of the UCSD Clinical Technology division. This involves serving as the medical device cyber security and technical administrator for clinical care device hardware, software, operating systems, and network management. This position will plan, coordinate, and execute the research, installation, configuration and testing of information security related clinical care device hardware and software components. The incumbent will work with equipment vendors, operators, IT Security Engineers, IT Network Engineers, Clinical Technology Technicians and Clinical Engineers to establish medical device security standards and related risk profiles and remediation plans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus Five (5) years of related experience/training
Should have an in depth understanding of how security systems integrate with other platform solutions
Professional experience, and proven success, providing hands on security systems support and managment in a large scale organization.
Broad knowledge of various areas of IT.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a healthcare environment.
- Master's degree in related area preferred.
- Certification in Clinical Engineering clinical technologies functional area preferred.
- Certificate in related network engineering preferred
- Clinical Engineering (CE) preferred
