The Cybersecurity Engineer will report to the Information Security Lead to increase the state of Cybersecurity across the entire university system. The Engineer as a member of the CIOs team will work daily with members of the Information Technology division. This position requires a person that has deep and diverse technical knowledge of endpoints (Macs and PCs), networking technologies, on premise and cloud server operations and the implementation of industry security best practices. The chosen candidate will be a self-starter that can manage the creation and execution of cybersecurity projects from inception to successful rollout and validation. This position may work remotely.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies interdisciplinary skills in secure systems architecture and design, security operations, vulnerability discovery and remediation, and network security for a diverse set of business operations.
Evaluates current approaches to secure processing, storage, and transfer then designs, implements, and improves information security standards, and processes in accordance with compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, FTC, CIS, NIST), industry best practices, and the needs of the university.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, technologies, architectures, and emerging technologies through a personal commitment to growth and enhancing your knowledge and expertise, through continued learning opportunities â“ formal or informal â“ and to sharing these insights and ideas with others.
Serves as a key resource of the cybersecurity incident response team interacting with senior members of the universityâ™s leadership team and all elements of the CIO team to resolve events quickly and effectively.
Analyzes security implications of cost, performance, and scalability trade offs in making overall network architecture recommendations.
Aids in the evaluation and validation of processes necessary to assure that existing and new information technology (IT) systems meet the organizationâ™s cybersecurity and risk requirements.
Advises and assists with approaches to securely manage and authenticate identities (person and non-person) and define and enforce access control across the universityâ™s environment.Â
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent Cybersecurity Certifications (CCSA, GCCC, GCED, CISM), accompanied with applicable work experience of at least 4 years
Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, time management, communications, organizational, and people management skills with a proven ability to indirectly influence others and to communicate effectively and efficiently, in written and verbal form.
Ability to work outside of normal office hours in response to cybersecurity events and incidents as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in an organization regulated by one or more regulatory frameworks (PCI-DSS, FTC, CIS, NIST, SOC2, ISO27001, HIPAA)
Advanced degree
Over 6 years of progressive experience in the Cyber Security industry.
WORK MODE
Hybrid/Remote - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions.Â
